The new open compartment Innsbruck device
Xona introduces a new open compartment neuron culture device and microfluidic platform called the Innsbruck device. This Silicone (PDMS) Device is a compartmentalized microfluidic chamber with an enclosed center compartment and two open outer compartments.
Xona awarded SBIR for Alzheimer’s in vitro assay development
Xona Microfluidics receives a 2-year phase I SBIR grant to develop in vitro assays using its patented technology for Alzheimer’s disease research.
Increase throughput using Xona’s RD series Silicone (PDMS) Devices
Xona’s round microfluidic chambers were placed into 12-well plates increase throughput and sample size. Montage images of each well containing the microfluidic device illustrate how automated imaging can be performed in such a format.
Congratulations to Macquarie University for winning 2nd place in the 2021 Nikon Small World Photo competition!
Esmeralda Paric and Holly Stefen won 2nd place for their image of networking neurons in a microfluidic device (SND450). This is a truly impressive feat considering the extensive competition.
The Meyer’s lab (Indiana University) grows retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in XonaChips®
Paper Highlight! RGCs expressing a fluorescent protein were purified from human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) -derived organoids and then grown within XonaChips®, as detailed in a recent 2021 publication Stem Cell Reports from Jason Meyer’s lab at Indiana University.
3D cultures in XonaChips® used for high profile Alzheimer’s disease study
Paper Highlight! An impressive paper in Cell Reports from the Tanzi lab uses XonaChips® to create 3D compartmentalized cultures. ELISA was used to quantify Aβ levels using media isolated from the axonal compartment.
Cellular model of human motor unit using XonaChips exhibits ALS disease hallmarks
Paper Highlight! The Van Den Bosch Lab (KU Leuven/VIB) creates in vitro human motor units using XonaChips®. These results were recently published in Stem Cell Reports April 2021.
